Welcome to the Field Trip Foundation

Curiosity is the edge of passion. - Gwen Heistand

Our goal is to inspire today’s youth to be curious and learn about the natural world around them.

Field Trip Foundation is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization dedicated to providing environmental educational field trips to low-income San Francisco Bay Area school children. Since 2000, our hands-on, experiential programs have introduced over 10,000 elementary school children to tide pools, redwood forests, elephant seal rookeries, and much, much more. Our programs serve schools with a majority of low-income students, as these schools have the least amount of resources for educational field trips.

Imagine, you are 10 years old. Imagine this is your first trip to the beach ... ever!

Imagine a whole new world waiting to be discovered...

... even if it's just 15 miles away.

We believe that children who have an enthusiasm for and knowledge of the natural world become adults who take responsibility for preserving it.

Field Trip Foundation works closely with educators and integrates the field trips with class curriculums in primarily 3 rd and 4 th grades.
To leverage existing community resources, we partner with respected environmental education organizations.

We are 100% volunteers, so over 98% of financial support goes to programs and the schools we serve. Our funding comes from individual donations and we receive no government funding.

Sharing the excitement of nature together...

... and exploring the wonders of nature first hand!
